Lawrence, Massachusetts, was once a great mill city that attracted immigrants from all over the world. The city was devastated after World War II when its industrial base disintegrated and many of its families left. But now Lawrence CommunityWorks and Groundwork Lawrence are mobilizing residents, business owners, and government officials to redevelop the downtown.
